Hey guys. My name is John. I'm a plumber by trade and my father is a mechanic. We are going to be building a buggy. We have just started reviving our motor. We have an arctic cat z1. I think we have our drive train figured out. But we are looking at buying plans for the roll cage and suspension. Has anyone on here build the edge Barracuda or x2. Or is there a better set of plans out there. I want to keep it small but also be a two seater. My finished motor will be approx 300 hp at the crank and I will be using a Polaris rzr transmission. Any input or advice is greatly appreciated

    Thanx for the feed back.
I am putting a dial on the timing for the waste gate on the turbo. So it will be capable of 300 hp but will run consistently from 170-250 depending on the terrain and performance needs. Do you still think that it would be to much for the rzr transmission? I met a guy at a Motorsport shop who had a similar setup in his rzr and hadn't had any issues yet. But only had a couple hundred miles on the upgrade.

    Welcome to MBN!

I'm in the process of making a new ride that's going to have around 220 hp and I'll be using an XP1000's drive train - trans, drive shafts, front diff, etc. Everything I hear about the RZR trans has been good. The 900's had some issues with "cheap" bearings, but from what I hear if you replace those with a quality bearing, you're good to go.

Where are you located - which also goes along with what sort of terrain are you planning on assaulting with this ride?
Any idea of a finished weight?
How about tire diameter. All these things can make a difference. It's not going to like 33" tall tires being slammed through desert whoops for miles and miles as much as it would 28" tall tires in the woods. Shock loading (what whoops are) is where you start having issues with drive train longevity and reliability.

I am located in central Michigan area. And really all I have figured out is the motor. I want to buy chassis plans but I am undecided on the plans. The edge x2 looks like a good buggy but haven't seen many complete. What are some of the better two seat buggy plans out there.
