So it keeping with the format...

Where are you from and where do you enjoy your hobby?
My name's Mark and I'm from Roseburg, Oregon.

What sort of background do you have?
Nothing too serious. I've just been learning as much as I can each day. I'm 24 now and have been building anything I could strap a motor on since I was 11. First project was an Echo-powered pneumatic wheeled scooter (age 11). Over the next 7 years through middle school and high school I built go-karts. The first go around was when I was about 13. OSB base with galvanized pipes drilled and bolted to it to build a frame, 3HP Tecumseh, belt drive down to a hardwood pulley (buddy's grandpa turned it out for us on his lathe) bolted to one wheel = One Tire Fire at every go! Then I learned to weld. Go karts then got things like A-arm suspension, full cages, the works.

What sort of experience do you have with the world of off road vehicles? While at college I bought a bone stock Suzuki Samurai with the intention of bringing it back home and building it up after I graduated. Things worked out. I brought it back, pulled the stock 1.3, built a new 22R for it, put that in along with Toyota tranny, t-case, and axles. Built bumpers, tube fenders, fiberglass tranny hump, custom formed sheetmetal dash, the works. It's always a work in progress. Friends and I have been building since before we could drive!

Fabricator? *Designer? *Just learning? *I guess I fall into all categories here. I'm a CNC programmer for a living so I have great opportunities to design everything I build in AutoCAD before touching any raw materials. I take pride in having built everything rather than buying and bolting on. And like I said, I try to learn as much about everything everyday as I can.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I was pretty stoked to stumble onto this site the other day while surfing THEOFN. I have two projects percolating in the back on my mind right now. 1) My son's first kart. I have a 110 4-stroke motor/tranny/electric start setup from a kids quad that I'd like to build around for him. He's 2.5 years old right now. The other is a new kart for myself. I have a brand new CR250 engine just waiting to go into something; only problem is that I haven't designed that something yet.
