Ha! It was already on the list. I just listed major stuff. Not a chance in hell it will be faster than my two seater unless I get into rock crawling or mud bogging. The 4wd will be nice in silt though...

When I used to go to Little Sahara Sand Dunes here in Utah a few years ago, you would see all kinds of sandrailers and a few minibuggies racing up, down and around Sand Mountain. They would be followed up the hill by their buddies on modified Raptors that screamed like @$J# as they shot up the mountain.

Today, it's nothing but Razers everywhere you look. All those guys that used to race up the mountain on their sandrailers and their quads are now squiring the kids and grandkids around the dunes in their UTV's. Oh, the humanity!!

Seriously, the UTV craze has hurt the buggy-building business, but it has also gotten more people out riding. Talk about trail closures has dropped considerably since greater numbers of people are out riding in the outdoors.

It's all good news, but . . . where are my buggy building buddies?

God do I hate to admit it but this thing is pretty damn good out of the box. REALLY damn good once I upped the compression on the Walker Evans shocks by twisting the clickers. It is pretty impressive. It does everything well if not really well. The long wheelbase makes it really predictable, easy to drive, and stable. I love it, my wife loves it, and, most importantly, my son loves it. We put 99.9 miles on it this weekend without a hiccup. Everything from washes, hard pack, rocks, whoops, and a super gnarly hill that makes Jeepers cringe. 4 low and it went right up it. It blew me and my friends away how good it is. My wife logged around 25-30 miles in the drivers seat and with some coaching (at her request believe it or not), she had it flying after 5 miles or so. She still needs some help picking lines but that will come with more experience. I really do hate to admit how good this thing is. Obviously there are things the buggies do better and I certainly was missing the plushness in big rolling whoops but this golf cart can do so many things a buggy can't.

The ONE thing that absolutely sucks is the wind blast without any form of windshield or wind deflector. It was cold. Even with gloves, several layers, and my enduro jacket, it was almost unbearable past 50mph. In fact, that's the only reason my wife stopped driving it. She wanted to get in back to get some wind relief from the front seat. I'll be ordering the Cagewrx windshield when I order the cage and roof.

They're goats. Low 4x4 and they'll just go up anything as long as they have traction. I kept telling you that you'd be impressed! It was a long slow climb up an extremely rocky trail (all bowling ball size and bigger rocks) that made me switch from the RPM and two wheel drive to the XP1K drive train in the Mini-Raptor.

Windshield is great for cold, but sucks when it's warm. It causes a low pressure zone (especially if you have doors) and that in turn sucks the engine bay heat into the cabin. There are fixes, but they're more like band-aides. I've been doing all sorts of things to combat the heat.

Definitely consider a windshield that either opens or is two pieces so you can open the top half. The half windshields work quite well too, but still cause the low pressure zone.

Yeah the bear claws leave a bit to be desired going fast. They push really bad. I think it would turn better with the KM2s but I'm worried about loosing the climbing ability and soft terrain traction the bear claws have

I can 100% see why you switched to the XP drivetrain. I just want to see a 5 link on your raptor

The front seats are pretty far from the firewall. It seams sealed up pretty well too. The Cagewrx windshield is removable so when the temps start to break 80° I'll just take it off.

The windshield you're talking about is some kinda polycarbonate (Lexan,etc) ? The ones I've seen attract dust as a result of static REALLY badly to the point that any kinda sun glare and you can't see. Maybe someone has come up with something to eliminate that but if not be prepared to carry something with you that you can clean it without scratching it all up.

It's horrible! The static is absolutely horrible and the dust makes the darned half windshields we run unusable into the sunlight.
Look into a real glass windshield - they work so much better.
