    Tut,

I have a quick question: Could a person use a King Pin spindle spud on your front spindles instead of a combo spud?

I don't really know anything about the different sizes of vw spindles, but it seems like if a person used a king pin spud, you could get vw disc brake conversion kits for way cheaper then buying say a Tatum or Jamar combo spindle brake kit. I really like the way you did your front brakes, just can't seem to find that brake kit for a combo spindle.

I was figuring maybe order some king pin spindle spuds ($55) and weld those on your spindles instead of the combo spuds, and then order the Chevy 5 lug conversion kit for King pin spindles ($320) and save myself some money.

    What do you think?

    Thanks!
    -Spencer

Wow I'm a genius! See page 5, answered my own question Tut, are those King Pin Spuds (mooreparts.com P/N AC405021) what you ship with your spindle kits?

If so I'm good to go!!

Yep... you beat me too it. I did just that.. and actually at the time I order the spindles they will switch them out for the standard VW king pins usually for free.

But yes I did and they are holding up good.. but the front brakes are heavy and I would not trust going King pin on larger tires, rims and two seater cars etc. But on smaller tires and cars yes. I trust it. Then again my brother races class 9 on his king pins and weighs in at 1,550 pounds then adds two people and runs hard.. so you know.. hard to say.

The reason you would want to go Combo Spindle snouts is to save weight, get better brakes, and be stronger.
But be ready to spend a lot more that is for sure.

Thanks for the question and glad you found the answer in my post.

Oh while were on this.. you can also pick up a standard say trailer spud in different sizes and mount that onto the front end if you were just looking for a standard hub etc. You can contact Protodie and get snouts and brakes from him and set up your front also.

Tons of ideas actually if you start thinking on it.

Do you have any more pics of the build process? I've looked at thousands of buggies and this one pleases my eyes in every way. What motor/cc and weight?
