Heres some sketches(pretty weak ones) of a 3-link rear axle idea i had.

It uses a harley drive belt and pulley so the axle can rotate side to side.

For some reason i'm hooked on 3-links and solid axles.

I need someone to draw this in SW for me to simulate the travel.

It would be a single seat ,engine next to driver setup.

(bottom pic should say top view, scanner missed it)

    I do get it...
I looked at your pics for an hour
    I got 3 questions
    1) How are you going to suspend it?
    2) How are you going to support it latterelly (sp)
    3) How are you going to stabilize the harley pulley when the terrain is uneven (one tire on a bump and the other in a hole)
    Now I need a dooobie [smilie=icon_bolt.gif]

Maybe I don't get it either. Is the engine going to be on a common pivot with the Harley pulley? If not what will keep the 2 in alignment when the live axle pivots in specs example of one tire in a hole and the other on a bump?

Shocks mount to the lower links(see the squares in the last pic?)

Lateral movement is controlled by the upper diagonal link.

The belt can actually take quite a bit of twist before it derails, but i could ad a small guide that stays with the pulley.

I'll make another sweet sketch, and maybe a pic or two.

The engine is along side the driver seat(real mid engine),sprocket from motor to j-shaft with small pulley centered on chassis, belt back to large pulley, belt twists as axle rotates side to side.

I'm not too certain that the belt will allow for that.Have you seen a setup like that that works withoput killing the belt.So far as I know that will kill a belt like that type.

Something else that concerns me would be getting a rock or other debris between the belt and pulley.Unlike a cvt belt that can handle some debris due to the ability to change pitch that would result I think in an instant broken belt.I like the concept buttttttt, I'm not sure.It could be a great way to do what you want.If it would work. Any others have any input?
