I'm starting a trophy Kart/small kart build and have a chance to pick up some high end quad long travel shocks cheaply. The shocks are completely adjustable. So, i was wondering what you guys think about using quad shocks on a trophy kart sized buggy.

I called Fox and of course, got the same guy i talked to last time about Fox 2.0 air shocks.... and he didn't know. even after telling him projected weight and size. figured i would ask the professionals on this board.

EDIT: or are quad shocks the same as UTV shocks with different valving?

Shock spring rates and valving will be different depending not only on the weight of the machine, but also the lever ratio of the suspension. A heavy UTV with a low lever ratio may have softer springs and less damping than a sport quad with a high lever ratio. An FL350R has a 1.5:1 lever ratio in the rear and my long travel A-arm front has around a 2:1. So even though the machine is heavier in the rear, the spring rates are similar on the front and rear shocks.

Externally adjustable quad shocks are only adjustable within a small range to tweak them in on a given machine. If the base valving ends up being way off, you'll still have to take the shocks apart to change the internal damping.

On our joyner frot ends most of us have gone with walker Evans off of polaris sleds. 18in eye to eye and a clicker resi to adjust the nitro. Sleds typicly weigh a bit more. Our buggy's are about 700-800lb, at rest they sit about 30% nto the stroke. If these intrest you, I would suggest buying these unless you can find a cheaper set http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polaris-Walk...item2a18c2e2e0

I paid 150 for mine on luck but they retail for about 800. For our rears, well aint a cheap option for us. Rzrs and xp shocks fit but they want 700-1000 for a set used. I think my rears will be fox airs

For a used option, I'll keep these in mind to suggest for someone getting our Pilot or Odyssey long travel kits and wants to save on the shocks. I sell 2 shock options. 1 is 18.25" and the other is 18.5". The ones you linked are single rate springs though. Do you know the compressed length?

I want to say about 12in cpmpressed. They also use these shocks on the polaris predator and outlaw 500's but the springs are a little softer. I've come down on them multible times from 6ft up and they land smooth as could be
