So I've developed an overheating issue ever since I started playing in the field. Turns out my radiator is full of grass and crap, I cleaned it out real good and it worked fine until i played in the field again. Does anyone make like a prefilter or something to keep from clogging up the radiator?

I've seen some people try to use wire mesh with varying degrees of success

3/16 mesh in a frame spaced 3/8 or so off the radiator.

Search the Mini-Raptor thread 6 or so months back and see if you can find a pic of the screen I did for the intercooler as an example.

    found a pic:

really that big of a gap? my fins were packed full, I took the radiator out to clean it and just tapped it on the ground and tiny grass particles piled up

Just kinda guessing. Thinking is the screen should interfere with most of the crap and the air space to keep flow as much as possible.

Screen right against won’t be much different than just the radiator.

    Anyone else wanna chime in?

I was thinking something more like an outerwears prefilter material like used on air filters would keep all that little crap out

Something neat that my dad's work makes is a cooling system for city busses and the like, and they have a feature where at the end of the day they can hit a switch and it'll spin all the fans backwards for a bit and blow out any junk they may have collected throughout the course of the day. You'd probably need some kind of external controller for your fan to do that on your buggy though.
