I build the entire harness, its pretty easy for a setup like this. the microsquirt comes with an 8 foot harness with labeled and color coded wires if you have an ok knowledge of wiring and how things work its no big deal. I have a write up on another forum but you have to be a member to see it i believe, I link it just in case. http://www.turborangerforums.com/showthread.php?t=7807 as far as base maps there is a table generator which i used that got it to run, its just speed density which uses a spark and fuel table as well as an AFR table used for autotune or running in closed loop if you choose. I don't run a knock sensor so my spark table is what I believe is pretty soft just to be safe. I haven't tried the autotune feature yet but there is a feature in the megalog viewer which does the same thing just not in real time. you take a data log, open it, let it analyze, save the table and load it in the tune, repeat. that has worked fin for me. other than that you have to basic setup in tunerstudio for your specific engine and sensors and whatnot. It seems like a lot and it can be scary but its really not so bad.

I really do like running the ford with the vw trans and I prefer the ford over a 1.8t but I do have a $1000 adapter plate and flywheel. but I can also get a low mileage newer ford 2.5 for under $300 and I don't really have to touch it, not really sure what a VW would cost.

I'd like to make a trip to silver lake this year, who knows maybe we'll run into each other
    Thanks for the information!!
YES, when you do get to Silver Lake, let me know!!

Buy old VW, cut out the top section of the tunnel. Put it in the buggy. Put fiberglass body on it. Register as VW.

Those are all things I don't want to do haha, I originally thought before I did any of this that I could find an old vw and put the vin on the buggy and just roll with it but I decided to be legal and look what that got me

My brother has great Barking Spider skills - he corrals them exceptionally well and demonstrated for Talon often.

I took my sister for her first ride yesterday and tested out the new GPS speedo, I hate the delay but its better than nothing, It easily hits 87 mph.
I've got my new lower control arms drawn up and hoping to get a laser quote from a friend of a friend.
I'm also taking recommendations for what color to wrap the body panels

Before I order anything, does anyone recommend anything for a windshield? I plan to use 3/16 lexan and either zeus or ziptie it to the frame

I decided to wrap the body panels, i like how it came out. Flat panels are so much easier than a vehicle. I also drove it on the street for the first time and i have confirmed i need a windshield its 25 in the neighborhood and it sucked haha
