Hi
i am in the process to start a ST3 Build and was hoping for some ideas for the shocks that i need. the plans recommend i use FOX shocks but unfortunately i don't have the means to acquire them and would have sell some organs to pay for them and i am kinda fond of the organs i have so. The thing is in my country these shocks have to be imported at crazy prices but we do have a Motor bike salvage yard where they have plenty of accident damaged quad bikes there could i use a rear shock from a quad bike and change the design on the buggy to make it work? if so what size would i have to look for to achieve this? any input would be greatly appreciated

Hello.. I am building a modified ST3. I had the same problem with importing fox shocks to my country. I ended up paying another 50% plus on the value of the shocks for shipping, VAT and import tax.
The first thing you have to consider about using quad shocks, is the difference in weight. The st3 weight approximately 1000 lbrs or even more. I would recommend using double quad shocks at each corner but you have to modify the front suspension so that the shocks will not hit the Arms.
Good luck

Hi thanks for the info, i know its freaking ridiculous the amount of money needed to import them!!
what size eye to eye shock would work? keeping in mind the travel, i could modify the the shock mount lower on the body but keep the A arm mount in the original place.do you think that would work?

For the front i think you can find the same size shock as the fox shock . For the rear you will definately have to modify the shock mounts
