I think you need to ask yourself what am I using the buggy for?
Are you just piddling around on 5 acres or are you planning more extreme riding? What is the terrain you'll experience?
Bottom line: those axles will not take it. I say beef up your drve line, funds permitting.Glock n Ballz

Check out www.recyclemotorcycles.com That's where we get some of our donor engines from. Russ can hook you up with a good engine for a good price. Other places are kijiji.com, crankyape.com, ebay.com plus tons others.
If going with a motorcycle engine, get a fuel injected, liquid cooled, electric start, left side sprocket, chain driven 600cc or larger engine. The electrics are a little more complex to wire up but they are much more reliable especially when starting in colder weather (Winnipeg is damn hot in the summer & damn cold in the winter, right? lol).
