I was watching the new series of the Gadget show recently (only due to the fact they said they were showing a sand rail) and guess what tears onto the screen only a Sinister Sandsports SR2!! - I thought Blimey its one of Yoshi's
I have to say it looked fantastic flying across the dunes it was a real shame the idiot from the show was driving it as frankly he couldnt drive it for toffee!!
I couldnt help but laugh though with his opening line of its a new type of car called a sand rail! - NEW?? ha ha
this was the SR2 from the show (hope the link works) -

I had a good laugh too when the presenter said this was a new form of car ! and I could see why the modified snowmobile won the race coz the driver wants to stick to presenting .

I haven't seen the show yet, freaking geo blocker. The producer of the gadget show is sending me a dvd. I was hoping they would run the new SR2 since Abdulla had both models there, but it was a customers rail and he didn't wanna risk messing anything up, so he ran the older one instead..
I talked to them while they were filming last year, I was un aware the quad/snow mobile beat the rail in a race, I was told that every time they lined up the rail smoked it. The drivers had no experience with a busa rail though, only the stunt driver got it up over 8k rpms and into 4th. gear, everyone else was scared of it, and they all drove it during the shoot....

Johno,
A wigan lad you say! I live near Lancaster - good to see there is a few of us over here interested in Buggy building!! - you will have to keep in touch so when the day comes she rolls under her own steam you can come and see / drive it!!
Yoshi
The SR2 is a credit to you, the few shots we got to see it accelerating it was clear it was all over the Quad / snow whatever - it looked a total animal bearing down on that little Quad / Snow thing, it was just that opening line about "A new type of vehicle" what a laugh! - I bumped into the presenter a few months back in Euston Station London, if I had seen this video prior to that I would have pointed it out to him ha ha
I dont remember seeing your website address mentioned on the show which is a shame as the nearest thing we have to your machines is the Rage Buggies, which granted go fast (I have driven a few) but simply do not have the presence or capability your machines have (And I'm not just saying that...were not worthy... were not worthy........ ha ha )

CHAOS
Ill take up the offer of see it / drive it but I promise not to drive like a TV presenterlol !!. Its so good to see so many people have a passion for things made from metal and make lots of noise (according to my better half)
I have been in contact with Bob (gootjr) about his Extreme Baja Kart to ask if there was any plans / drawings to build a kart and was supprised that he has shipped a kart to Red Ruth in Cornwall . So I would like to see one of the karts as he says they will offer a tack welded frame kit & other bits in kit form just got to wait untill the dealer pick's it up from the dock's (12th feb ) then hopefully have a good root around it if possible.

I haven't seen the video yet, but there is a link to my site on their site
FiveFWD - Episode 1 - The Desert Challenge by The Gadget Show's Dionne South
(although I can't watch the video in the US from there) and since they have my company name and the model of the rail, people can do a search. I'm already getting quite a few hits on my site from the link they have up......

Yoshi,
Ah.... I see where they put the link now, thats good - its also very good to see your getting some hits off it too! - Lets hope the hits turn to orders eh!!
Johno,
My Better half agrees with yours !! ha ha- She usally just says "well at least I know where you are!" (in the Garage
)
I must admit I was going to release the plans I made for my machine once it was all finished that is, I designed it all on a cadcam package and have been documenting the build quite heavily so far we will just have to see if there is any interest once she's up and running.ChaosMS
