The jog in the floor he means the overlapped pieces. I have never understood why the plans call for that. I'd rather keep those pieces flush and miter the ends together. Either way it looks like it works well.
Did you make the frame any wider or longer? Most guys who have built the shredder all say they wish it was a bit larger.

No it's for my kids so I didn't see the need. Maybe I'll regret it I don't know?

Nah, the kids will be fine in it. I fit in mine with another adult, it's just a tight squeeze. Looks like your making good progress.
