It would be a TOUGH buy for me. for 10 grand I'm looking to get one with either a large sled, or motorbike engine, but that's me. That's most likely why you will never see me buying anything built, except a car, or motorbike, but I believe that if I can make one for 5 grand, and the time, why not?
Proud owner of a two seat pucker-mobile. Funco inspired mini buggy powered by a Busa. Giving out free rides to anyone brave enough.

Not me! It would make a nice starter car but would quckly get boring with so little power. Good looking but it seems to me that it is a 5k car despite the name on the side.

I drove one, this one in particular, when Alain used to build them. *Initially it was fun, but quickly became tiresome holding the throttle wide open, all the time. *Letting off, slowed the car too much; almost immediately.
In some ways, it was more fun to drive than a stock Pilot, certainly a better ride due to the longer travel, but even with more hp, than a Pilot, it didn't feel like it. *Granted, Alain could have done more with clutching, pipe, cylinder head work and an almost endless list of stuff, but by the time he would have done all that, the car would have been priced close to the Formula Cross (two-stroke, Rotax car) so why even bother. * *
When he introduced it at the Sand Sports Super Show, there was very little interest, even at the low price of about $7500. *He tried offering various performance upgrades, but still very little interest; not enough travel and not enough hp. *Tough making a business case when there aren't enough potential sales to meet a minimum ROI. *Also, not to forget, the engines weren't cheap. *As I recall, Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki all wanted huge initial orders, meaning Alain had to buy very large quantities, before they would give any discounts, which were very low. *Hard for a small business to commit to such large capital investment, with little to no return. * Again, at that time, that situation just made the two-stroke, Rotax powered cars a significantly better deal.
