Briggs Built 72". Very rare toy. Class 43 I think

I just recently found this site. I bought this about 20 years ago and restored it. Originally built for the Baja 1000. Rotax twin (rebuilt by PEP Wanye Moridian), Bob's pipes, two radiators, 13" and 14" centerline rims (14" not allowed in racing class), powerbloc and HRD clutches, gear reduction rear end, UMP aluminum body, steering brakes and adjustable braking bias, 20 gallon fuel capacity the (now illegal) fuel cells on the outside of the frame in the body. I stripped the body down to bare aluminum and hand pounded out all the dents to where it is bondo free. I heard rumors there were two Briggs 72" chassis built but I was never able to find out if a second one was ever made. This is a very rare classic. Very fast and scary. I hope the picture link works. Old polaroid pic. Still in this condition except for dust. Time to polish her up and see what she'll do.

    Welcome to MBN!

I fixed the link for you - it wasn't working.

Cool old Briggs. Looks like a Gen II car maybe? Basing this on the rear suspension.

You plan on running it again?

I'm going to get it ready for sure. Anyone else have a Big Briggs? Not a lot of info out there.

There are a couple Gen IV long chassis cars out there - they used to be up in the WI/MN/MI area and I've heard rumors of a started one in SoCal, but other than that, I don't know of any more.

This car has always been around SoCal and Havasu area. It had some cooling and belt issues. I hope I got those sorted out. It just needs to see dirt again and it's cool old school.

There are no plans that I know of - although there's a member on this board (who's not been here in a while and I can't recall his name) that has the jigs for the Gen IV cars.

Bullnerd may have drawn up the chassis by now too - go pester him (and tell him I want the front end geometry)

Welcome Doc. Very nice buggy. More better pics would be great, especially to document it incase you disappear.

I have seen pics in a mag of the gen4 large version that was being built. It was just the frame and the mag said it never got finished because they cancelled the class. The other two big frame cars I heard are on the east coast, no idea where.

I have a pretty close version of the short course car in bend tech, that's posted here, but I don't have anything else drawn up, sorry.

Where you livin Doc? SoCal I guess?

I won't disappear. I had a lot of digital pics during the restoration but lost them on a hard drive before the "Cloud" existed. I will start to post some detailed pics of this car. I bought it in 92 or 93 and I believe it was built around 1985
