Yep. Oh and make sure your computer doesn't auto update to 8.1. Autocad won't work.

Just as a heads up with AutoCad and 8.1, I had the oh so fun experience of a forced 8.1 update today. Somehow I "got lucky" and had all of my applications fail to reinstall. While it was a massive pain in the ass for all my work stuff (like 7 hours pain in the ass), it actually worked in my favor with AutoCad. It installed seamlessly and works fine. When you do have the forced 8.1 migration, do not have it reinstall Autocad. Reinstall it on your own. This is apparently the only "fix" for 8.1.

I don't have ACAD available to me anymore - it's a "shared" university version...
I've turned off ALL updates on that damned Windblows 8.

I went out and bought a few copies of windows 7 - 32 and 64 bit home pro to keep on the bookshelf for the day when I can ONLY get a machine with 8.1.

The PC world is a bit better than the Mac world. The PC world tries to make things backward compatible where with the Mac, they will orphan you and your hardware in an instant.
