Picked up a sand rail with a Ford Capri 2.6L V6 with a 4 barrel on it. Seems to run decent. Couldn’t pass it up… not too much Panther progress this week as it’s still endless summer heat here.

Looks fun. I had a rail during college and we had lot of fun with it and that's part of the reason for my build right now. We had a VW 1600 and I probably spent 2-3 hours working on it for every 1 hour of driving it. Was still worth the experience at the time. Having a Ford power plant should be better and I'm sure will generate smiles and bugs in your teeth equally as well.Panther rebuild

Yeah, I resemble that remark. For the longest time, it felt like I spent more time working on my buggy than riding it. It wasn't a total negative, however. You learn by doing, right? I broke an axle back in March, but I think I have the last of the gremlins worked out after the engine (and axle) swap.

Sounds like my past experiences with many Volkswagens too… hoping it’s reliable!
More on topic; still a bit stumped on the upper shock mount bracket. I started cutting out a rectangle tube but have only got one side cut as a mock up so far.

Check it out! All steel body. I had hopes of making this 4WD, but the axles I wanted to use got sold so most likely it will be 2WD. Talk about sidetracked from my original project…
Panther rebuild update: My cousin kindly offered to let me borrow his mandrel bender; which I’m excited to use and create shock hoops for the rear. Should look cleaner than my original idea (rectangular tubing cut at angles and braced). This also allows me to get my moneys worth from the tube notcher.

    What is that?
    Looks really retro.
    What’s the power plant?
    It needs a flux capacitor.

It’s a Taylor Dunn warehouse cart/mini pickup. Originally was 36v, but had a cooked commutator, so a “spare” 13hp engine is going in, along with a 3-4” lift and 22” tires. Flux capacitor is after testing to see if it holds together or not.

Been super busy with work and life lately, but Merry Christmas to everyone! Still at a pause on shock hoops for buggy, but I should have more time once it starts raining.

Don't have much free time myself. Fully understand.
All dressed up and waiting for the beer to arrive.
