ohh something that would slap right onto a 1" keyed shaft is so promising! I thought pretty much everything would be tapered! Gives me a little hope, but I'm betting most likely anythign he has will require me to run a tapered adapter or to have the clutch milled and keyed.

Found a better clutch! Very nice, heavy duty rig meant for a 100hp engine! It even comes attached to the engine! After a little tinkering the damn engine fired up nicely. I'm borderline considering pulling the 670 out and sticking this Arctic Cat 580 twin in...if only you could make 2-strokes not so damned loud!

I'm starting to find this thread as hard to keep up with as Kfabs injury list.

Use the clutch and sell the motor.
All dressed up and waiting for the beer to arrive.

Put the sled engine in. It has plenty of power that putting a nice quiet muffler on won’t even bother you.

This is still at the top of the list of options for me...I have to find a way to get the clutches to start engaging around 1500rpm, though. The sled motor doesn't start engaging until around 4k...this was an unforeseen complication :/

Definitely considering it even though I'm leaning toward not. It's not the muffler that makes the two stroke loud, it's the pinging off the expansion chamber. I might put it in and play with it just to see how it does and then decide. It won't be a huge chore to get it in there since the driven pulley sits on a 1" keyed shaft. Just a matter of mounting the motor the right distance away and hooking fuel up to it.

    Ahahaha! Bite me!

AC driven clutch is the weak link - at least with 30” or greater tire diam. Make sure you are not fully on throttle when touching down. It likes to pop the three towers off. Used to carry a spare in the car at all times.

Look into Aaen hardened rollers and helix for it also - will help with life of the driven and reliability.

Primary is a solid, reliable, tunable unit.

I NEVER ran an enclosed CVT setup. It just got in the way of changing belts and I had no issues with an open CVT setup versus enclosed.

I am running 30" tires but not directly...it's going through a transmission that's also kind of weak so we'll see which breaks first haha. I've always run mild steel keys on my jackshafts, though, and the few times I've had trouble with something binding up it just ruined my jackshaft.

Is there a straight forward way of getting an electric starter for the 580? Without spending a fortune to do it, anyway? I'm not so concerned about stalling with a CVT but I dont like the idea of starting the engine when I'm not in the driver's seat holding the brakes.

No clue on starter. My only experience was with the 1000 triple.

Unfortunately no videos. But I will say it made quite the difference. Still needed ear plugs, though.

K-Fab I'm having a hard time finding my spark after breaking stuff down. I'm sure I've unplugged something and not plugged it back in. I have almost ZERO experience with sleds. Do they have safeties like motorcycles? I mean, I know they don't have clutch switches and side stand switches and such but is there something else that might keep it from sparking?
