    Woo hoo!
DMV sticker from Kommiefornia - worth it’s weight (and then some) in gold.

    Good stuff.

    How’d the speedo work out?

Thanks all, it had been a long time coming but you all know how that goes.

The CHP officer said I made his job easy with all my photos, receipts, and documentation I provided.

All I got was an OHV sticker from the DMV soil didn't need the speedometer working. So no, its not functional yet. I'm still in process of getting it all setup so I'll let you know how it turns out.

Also got the new shock mounts welded in and shocks installed. Also added a few lights to the roofline.

    Well done!

Yep, its an old screwdriver I'm using for the shift lever. I liked it and made things simple not having to build something fancy. I also wanted a shirt throw without a lot of leverage so I was less likely to bend any of the linkage or the shift forks in the bike tranny.

I got the back half of the buggy weighed at 950 lbs and bought some stiffer springs to properly handle the weight. The ride is still nice but I don't bottom out on all the big whoops which is nice. I went with some 8in long 350lb/inch coils on top of some 12in long 400lb/in coils on the bottom. I have no crossover rings so I'm still just using a 2" dia pvc spacer to set when the lower coil kicks in.
I also used some cheap Heim joint for adjusters on the EMPI limiting straps I bought. I've been told they usually stretch 1 to 1.5" so I welded in the mounts to account for that and the heims give me some adjustability.
The last addition was I added an old Garmin handheld GPS I had to the dash. It was nice to check speed and distance on for the first time. I never used it anymore and the batteries had exploded and made a mess inside so I just soldered in a USB cable and will use it for this full time now.

Had the first major casualty today with the buggy while on a test drive. Was not too far from home when a u-joint cap came loose and it spit all the roller bearings all over. Not too big of a deal and doesn't look like anything else was damaged, but it did ruin the labor day plans for the morning. Had to call my better half to come tow me home.

One of the little "C" clips that hold the caps from coming out of the ears was missing but the cap was sitting on the top of the skid plate. So I assume the clip came out. Not sure why it came out other than when I repaired it that clip was tight putting it in so maybe it didn't recess properly in the groove. So this time I also put a little spot weld on each of the caps to hopefully keep them from working out.
While I was working on things I finished making my speedo sensor mount and the tone ring. I tried it out but my speed is way off compared to GPS. The speedo read 19mph and the GPS read 7.8mph. Apparently I need less teeth on the tone ring. I have 5 teeth but the bike originally had 4. I made it out of a spare 10 tooth sprocket which is why 5 was the obvious choice to start with. The tolerances were close with the speed pickup sensor and the drive shaft as I didn't make the teeth longer on the tone ring.

When I was out testing it, I convinced my boy to come take some action shots of me driving it and it turned out OK off this small jump on our property.
