Thank you, started out a bit rusty, but it came back. Metal prep is really critical. Some places I couldn't get all the laser cut edge cleaned out and I could really tell with the TIG process when I got to that laser hardened edge.

where did you get your axle stubs? Or are they called spindles? Did you have them fabricated or did you purchase them somewhere?

Stubs are VW balljoint stubs. You can order the complete spindle kit like I did or just the stubs. They can be purchased by most VW shops or Kartek, Moore Parts, Dans Performance parts, Kustom 1 Warehouse etc...

Not much to report.. work has had me out of town and I have been trying to get in as much work as possible on the house before winter hits us. For those that want to follow along with my many projects my facebook is Joshua Ferri and instagram is josh_ferri74 , its an adventure to say the least. Any ways, all I have managed on the buggy is to receive about 28 heims and mis-alignment spacers as well as source the lug nuts and mount some tires so I can start to get a grip on what wheel base and width I want for this beast. I have also started to get the materials for the spacers and mounting brackets required for the RPM gearbox.

Posted the updates on IG and FB, but for those that don't go there here are a few. Got the second spindle welded up, a boat load of heims, spacers and inserts arrived. Mounted another tire as well as put together one of the front disc's for a test fit (it's close, but no rubbing). Now it's time to get the suspension dimensions and start laying that out.

Good looking work.
Sooooo......
I saw on Fb where you'd mentioned time to start suspension. Do you have a plan yet?
You've got the three major "required" items for it - tire diameter, spindle points (which dictate KPI) and scrub radius so you'll be playing with upper and lower mounts on the chassis and arm lengths.
Is the chassis set up so that you'll be able to get the points in space that the inner mounts are going to use easily locatable?
I'll advise going back and reading flyer's post on suspension design as a refresher - it's good info. How to design and build A-Arm suspension
A lot of that info will transfer to the back also, as you're doing dual a-arms there.
Keep it up!

Thanks K-Fab, I do have a plan and have all the mentioned points available. I have built a few, but each is different. It is always a good read on the info you posted just to make sure nothing was missed :-). Kinda like the measure twice cut once philosophy.

I'm watching this post closely as I'm moving on to designing my suspension for my 3D buggy build I'll one day start fabricating on. Take lots of pictures, even if you don't think they'll be of use. Chances are, they'll spark a thought and teach a guy like me something I didn't know I didn't know.

Just to clarify... the front arm mounting points were already in place when I received the chassis, but they were not welded in yet so I have some flexibility. Since ProtoDie is up for sale, I have not been able to purchase parts originally designed for this chassis and have had to venture out on my own. I have reached out to Jody and asked to purchase the required items, but have come up empty since May. This isn't my first rodeo at this so there will be some give and take, but in the end I think all will work out. I am shooting for a 70-72" (probably 72") track width and the best "usable" suspension travel possible with this setup. I am not worried about maximum travel as I know that comes with much sacrifice. I used to fab for a team that raced in Baja when I lived in SoCal... that always wanted the maximum, but I had to prove to them that usable is better than maximum.
