Well it is time for me to do another build! There is something about building a car from scratch that is just really fun. This time I am going rouge. After my Rorty R16 build and my AR-51 build I have learned a crap ton of information and I feel that I can build from scratch on this one. It's not going to be mini by any means though. Here is the breakdown. I have been looking at many different engine and transaxle combos but coming up with no cost effective solutions....UNTIL I found Subarugears.com. They make a flipped ring and pinion assembly to take any 5 speed Subaru engine and transaxle and mount it in the back of a sand car, or whatever. This seems like a very logical way to go. Take a pretty stout trans that is designed for the engine and run it!

    Must haves-
    -Street legal
    -Non motorcycle powered
    -3 to 4 seats
-Better frontal visibility than the Rorty. That was my bad design on that car.

    Breakdown.
    20-22" front wheel travel
    18-20" rear travel
    Unequal A-arm design up front
Off the shelf front bearing assembly's (2012-current Chrysler 300)
2.5" IBP Kings in the front. 14"
2.5 CO with 3.0 bypass on the back
Trailing arm, POSSIBLY semi trailing arm
    Electric power steering
    118-120" wheelbase
    86" track width
    33x10.5x15 all terrains
    Subaru 2.0 or 2.5 engine

Here is where it gets interesting....I am going to buy a POS new body style Beetle for a title AND I will be completely gutting it and using the shell for a body! Basically a new body Baja Beetle!!!

    Absolutely!

I live an hour south of the dunes. Makes it easy to head up on a Saturday or Sunday to play for a while or even after work on a Friday.

Awesome I'm putting the engine in mine right now (Single seater R1 powered) so i'm sure i'll have some questions during test and tune. Also, I have a place up at silver so i'll make sure to stop you when I see you at the dunes
