    gsx600f buggy project

    Hello forum,

This is my first time posting here, so i'd like to show you a project i've been working on.
I am going to build a mini buggy using the engine from a '94 suzuki gsx600f. I'm designing the buggy in Inventor.

It's going to be a single seater with front a arm suspension and a pivoting rear suspension system.
The design isn't completely finished though. I am still deciding on material thickness and the bearing material for the a arms.

What's your opinion on my design? any input will be appreciated!

    Howdy and welcome to MBN.

Looks like a good start. But before you start cutting tubing, give this a read: How to design and build A-Arm suspension

If you're going to take the time to build a car from scratch, why not do it as close to right as possible from the start? Kinda makes sense, eh?

The front end you've drawn is a box. It's going to drive like a box, so give the link above a read. It'll make for a happy buggy.

With the power plant and size you're looking at, you can make a ripping little buggy if you apply some pretty basic rules of design to it.

See what you think about it.

Once again, welcome to the madness. (:

The 3D CAD looks good, I also designed mine in inventor, works slick with the assembly mode. Kfab is correct about the front suspension geometry. In my case I bolted up a front end A-arm and spindle setup from a 2wheel drive yamaha 4wheeler. It was easier for me to go that route, but I'm not saying thats the best route to go. If I was to do it again, I'd consider buying some pre-manufactured A-arm kits from the various custom parts manufacturers who frequent this site. It all depends on the tools you have, money, and time you can put into it really.

I agree with K fab on the front end you wont be happy with it , turning left or right will be easy , keeping it straight will be the hard part

Looks good dude. I used a gsxf 600 for my microcar an its a fun engine only 1 drawback witch is the clutch mechanism. How do you plan on dealing with that?

Interesting. Shows up once, comes back one day later and poof, gone. I hope we didn't scare him off.
