Well, you have the tar sands in Alberta. That's close to the same thing, right?

Looks very good. Glad to see you’re strapping the fuel tank in place. No cracking that way.

Thanks K-Fab! Yes, I built the cradle and will run two straps over the top to hold it in place.

I am going to put a 1/8Ē thick aluminum firewall between the exhaust headers and the fuel tank, do you think I will need more heat shield to avoid having issues with the fuel tank? Like an exhaust wrap or a heat reflecting tape on the fire wall?

On the Tazcars we ran just a 1/16" wall between the engine and the tank. There's a lot of air flow, heat tends to travel up, there is an air gap between the wall and the tank, the tank has a lot of mass (fuel) to heat up, blah, blah, blah... Nah, probably not but if you're worried, get some of the self adhesive aluminum sheet insulation stuff like this: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hsp-170102 Summit carries another brand that's a lot less but I can't find it presently.

Perfect, I already have a bunch of 1/8Ē aluminum sheet to use up so I may just use what I have. Iíll look into 1/16Ē, I assume that is better fit for most panels and dash and such?

Or maybe Iíll go with thin plastic puck board...? We will see I guess.

Thank you for the link, Iíll look into it.

Update on the build. The surge tank was leaking through the bolt studs that I welded on the inside of the tank. I guess there must have been some pin holes I could see when I finished welding.

I built a new lower plate, threaded it and used thread sealer and lock washers to hold the studs from the inside of the surge tank.

This allows the fuel pump to bolt in with sealed studs.

Also replaced the fuel pump o-ring.

Old bottom cut off surge tank.

Thread sealer on bolts. Gasoline safe according to the tube

Rebuilding rear jackshaft mounts and shaft.

    Fuel tank straps

    Eye bolts will get shortened.

Jackshaft turning down to correct diameter.

Jig for the lathe. Used to cut the keyway in the shaft. Iíll show it in later pictures.

Just have to finish welding the sprocket hub and then the jackshaft will be done
