I have been working on this project for a short time...gathering parts and information. Some pics scattered around the site here and there.

Basically I paid too much for a worthless project just before Christmas...widow with 3 kids and my kind heart = empty wallet!

A neighbor guy was selling it for the widow as the "Odyssey from Hell". After bringing it home and checking it out closer, I realized that I just bought a pile of junk...I actually knew it while loading it up!

This build is a more frugal build than most as it will just be for a weekend here or there. My wife is into the Harley more and I have spent lots on it which is basically our main toy so I have to keep it low key on this build.

    The POS build:
Polaris 530cc 2 stroke twin cylinder sled engine and Trailboss FNR gearbox
Odyssey frame section...basically used it just to say I used it!
Shredder II suspension from the plans.

    Parts List for my reference
    300.00 1973 Polaris 530cc twin cylinder 2 stroke with 36mm Mikunis
200.00 1987 Polaris Trail boss FNR gearbox - 13t countershaft sprocket
1987 Polaris Trail boss drive and driven pulleys

So here is what I brought home. The engine seems to run good and althiough not really my first choice I have decided to go ahead and use it...for now at least.

It had the engine pulley drive the pulley on the input of a golf cart rear (10:1 reduction)...brakes where stuck on but you could still drive it. I believe that is the only way the kids where able to ride it without getting killed. I pulled the caliper off and took it for a ride...got a little hairy to say the least. With no kill switch it was just stupid!

So...after checking out all the awesome builds on here I got excited to try and make something out of this.

    I decided on 3 things.
    1. I would use the frame and some of the cage so it kind of resembled what the wife saw me bring home...camouflage basically.
    2. I will use the engine since it runs and should put out some decent power.
    3. I will lie about any money I have spent on it!

Started stripping it down and ordered my Shredder II plans.

Here is a video of the motor actually running...the recoil rope wasn't in the whole way so it made a racket but I believe I can tune it to run pretty good.

Got my Shredder plans and some metal and started building my "go kart".

Using Raptor spindles modded to work with the plan's spindle design.

Pressed the snout out of the Raptor spindle and cut up the aluminum.

    Simple shredder spindle.

Quick and easy way to get disc brakes and easy to find replacement parts:

You can check out the awesome Shredder build threads for better pics, but here is my front end.

Got some Predator 500 front shocks and will be using Outlaw 525 rear shocks.

After grafting the front end on the Oddy, I boxed the front frame in for strength and some gussets will be added later.

Got some 23" Mud lites for the front and 25"s for the rear.

Since this is for PA and OH woods riding, I think I will try for 14" ride height.

Moving to the rear...will be using trailing arms based on the design of the Shredder but improved on by Lug...see his build in the Shredder forum.

The trailing arms use heim joints and the S10 bearing assembly.

Wanted more elbow room and helped to strengthen the frame.

Here we are now with the proposed cage design. I'm using square tube...almost broke down and bought a tube bender but I stayed the course! You can see my machine shop to the right!

This is where I'm currently at. Like I said, it's not as pretty as the builds on here, but should be a decent wood/trails buggy when done.

I am giving my daughter the buggy she has ridden all over Wellsville, OH in...it's a Manco Deuce with a 20HP Vanguard on 23" and 25" Dirt Devils.

What a fantastic project! It's come from the right place (your heart), so it's a good deal from the start.

I think you've got the beginning of a fun ride - it looks good.

Wellsville, eh? I never made it there, but always heard it was a fun place.

btw - I love the name of the project. Too funny.
