Finally got around to buy a of X2 plans.
Having a brand new baby in the house, time and money becomes a very rare commodity.
Decided to do a 1 Year build, small steps at a time.

    Plan of action:
Order and assemble laser cut parts, one section at a time.

The first parts, the pedal boxes I had plasma cut from a local supplier, but not happy with the accuracy of the products.
For the Next parts, I will have laser cut.

    Upload of photos fail!!

Post them using an image hosting program. It holds the pictures for you, then you just link to them in your thread. Works very well, see this thread.

    Ok, some updates:

Spent some more time on the pedal boxes, finished the accelerator box assembly with adjustor screw.

Picked up a steering wheel & centre hub form an parts market, paid almost nothing!!

Had some additional parts laser cut, but im majorly pissed of with the quality, or the lack of with the parts from the laser cutting company.
I have access to an cnc plasma cutting table, but opted to have the parts laser cut, seeing that the tolerances are supposed to be a lot less on laser cutting.
Once I started assembling the parts, I noticed burrs on most parts, tapering on all holes & just overall bad quality.
Long story short, ended up having to buy a set of small files, and spent hours filing all the joints.

Ill start with the stub axles & discs this week...

Had a look at the axel stubs & wheel hubs recommended on the X2 plans.
Sent out drawings for quotations on machining the parts for me, and almost had a heart attack!!
Besides the cost of the labour to have the parts machined, sourcing bearings & wheel studs alone is astronomical.
Had a chat to a mate of mine who builds Lotus7 kit cars, and he gave me a great Idea.
Sourcing a commercially available stub axle, and design the hubs around that.

    I went even one better:
Golf/Jetta Mark 11 had rear disk breaks, with bolt on stub axels!!
Turns out that I could buy a complete left & right side stub axles, bearing kit & break disks for the same price as having 2 stub axels machined.

    Next part of the project....
    Pipe bender!!
The 32NB pipe, I'll have bent, but the 20NB pipe I will have to bend myself.
I'm ordering some 40mm flame cutting discs, and will send those for machining.
I'm intending to build something similar to this:
