I wanted to start this thread by thanking all the members that have given input to my research threads and the forum overall... Chikin1974, Bullnerd, MC at Performance fab, r97, SCEADU, modnoc13, Protodie, samram13, tallguy64, nlongvc1, Gotted, noclue, dalonar, maybebuggy, CARLRIDDLE, MartinM210, oddyknuck, Chuckorlando, livewire, bngcustoms, etc. the list goes on.

For all of you that are researching, don't be afraid to ask questions... there are plenty of good guys on here willing to help(like the ones listed).

ok. on to the goods. I've been looking at the trophy karts and thinking they were cool... just didn't want to spend the 10+ thousand dollars on one. after building a couple of micro buggies, i believe my welding and fabrication skills to be good enough to try a big buggy build. I already have a side by side... so, i wanted something just for me to play in.

    Specs:
tubing: 1 inch .120 wall DOM
    height-- 50 inches
    length-- 90 inches
width-- 35 inches for frame only
    full width--61 inches
    wheelbase length-- 71 inches
    weight-- ??

i'm putting my design in here b/c i want to see how close i am when finished. so, this is the basic design:

front/side(the girl is 5ft 6inches tall, for reference):

    front:

    top view:

of course, the pics above do not include the rear section... still some work to do on there.

i started cutting and bending this past weekend... here are some pics:

and this is where i ran into a small issue... i mis-calculated with that bend measurement. so the front ended up higher...

so, i had to extend the bottom front 3 inches and then shortent 2 1/2 inches at the top. the following picture shows the after... i'm sure you can see the difference:

    and alittle closer...

well, that's it for now. i will openly accept constructive critism... and i will appreciate any feedback.

    thanks.

thanks Fu, that was the plan... to make it look like my little cruiser. surprised you noticed. as for motor, i have two choices: FZ6R or 300ex. my buddy came over on monday and got the 300ex running.. it sounds great and everything works. not bad for 150 dollars. I'm leaning towards the 300ex b/c it has reverse. and the intended riding is going to be woods riding.

Hey happy birthday buddy. Looks like its coming along quickly. I have a 27 month old... So I can say enjoy the little one while they just "wiggle" and eat.... I am just now to the point between work and days off to have a little bit of time. Wow wish I had time like that.

thank you sir! yeah, he's been on the every 3hr eating/sleeping schedule and is just now starting to sleep 6-7hrs at a time. sleep is seriously under-rated for a parent. and next up is 'teething'.

it's going to be a one seater. it's a bit wide i guess... but, it would have looked funny any narrower.
