2 seater version of a Piranha?

    G'day,

Been looking at doing a build for a while and recently got my hands on a 1200 adventure bike motor so ready to start. This motor should have plenty of good low down power which I'd prefer over top speed due to the terrain I have available to me. I like the Piranhas and think the motor would he best suited for it, but wondering if anyone has modified theirs to a two seater? I intend on using it on a farm and want to build something that's practical to take kids for a spin as well as have a bit of a blat myself. I know the Piranhas get a mod to extend the cockpit and engine bay but can't find any info about doing the 2 seat. Or if anyone can recommend another good 2 seater build? I know there's the X2 but it's out of my budget and probably capability..

    Cheers

    Howdy!

Shouldn't be that hard to modify the plans - split it right down the middle and add in another seat's width worth of tubing.

Obviously there will be some changes that you'll have to engineer - cross bracing, axle length - or at least distance between the inner axle pivoting points (CVs) and steering stuff.

Still, shouldn't be that hard to do.

That motor should be a hoot.

My brother-in-law did something similar to the DesertKarts plans and built it as a 2-seater. As K-fab stated, you need to make the frame wider and sweat a few details on how the steering will work, now that the steering wheel is further to the left, etc. but it wasn't too hard. His build turned out well.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm sure the plans could be tweaked and I'd get there eventually but I'm really keen to get stuck into it. I wanted to stay with an Edge buggy to support local business and for ease of parts/support if needed down the track. But the more I look at the US options, the more inclined I am to go down this path. Question is whether building a US design here in Australia would be more hassle than its worth..

Think I'll head over to the other forums and see what I can find out.
