Hayabusa oil cooler delete?

I tried searching this in engine and cooling but didn't find anything.

I put a larger aftermarket oil cooler in front of my radiator. I am having problems when its hot out and I am in the dunes riding hard my coolant temps get hot and i have to stop and idle to let it cool. I was going to move my oil cooler away from the radiator, but when i was searching some of the hayabusa forums I see a lot of guys are deleting them. They block the ports off and take the restriction screw out by the oil filter. A bunch of guys are saying the oil cooler hardly affects the temps and can be deleted. Then the turbo guys are saying they have to delete the cooler in many cases because its in the way of the turbo setup.
I am considering deleteing mine and blocking it off to see if my coolant temps will stay lower without the cooler in front of the radiator. I am considering turboing mine next year anyways. Have any of you guy ran in the dunes with the oil cooler deleted and do you know how your oil temps were??

Don't do it! I didn't measure oil temp, but the oil pressure was dipping under 5 psi at idle after a hard run.

I have a derale cooler now, and pressure stays near 10 most of the time when hot. The fan kicks on at 185, and runs nearly 100 percent of the time, so I know it is dumping heat.

Never had mine get hot, no where near 220. Is your radiator large enough? Did you bleed any air from around the thermostat?

One thing to keep in mind, is that the smaller bikes have an oil to water cooler, so I don't believe you can run without if you want any sort of longevity.

Also, make sure to take what the street and drag race guys say with a little skepticism...

Many of them don't put enough fuel through their engines in a short period of time to really heat soak it. If they do, they have the benefit of a 150mph breeze cooling everything down.

I can run my buggy hard through the trees, at less than 20 mph, and still maintain 210F.

Also keep in mind that the oil cools the pistons, the crankshaft, transmission, and clutch, if you decide to abuse it.

I have a 3 row civic radiator with a shroud with my oil cooler mounted in front of it. It is behind the gas tank which might be restriction air flow to the radiator. That's why I wanted to do something with the oil cooler. Maybe ill try to relocate it and put its own fan on the oil cooler.

Radiator definitely looks restricted for airflow to me, the gas tank is blocking the majority of it, and right in front of it too. I'd see what you can do about moving the tank or the radiator and oil cooler so it gets better airflow
Edit: maybe it would be possible to make a shroud to direct air into it, but it looks pretty tight between there to me

Yeah lots of air being blocked. Rad wont be enough turboed prob. I'd try to move tank, behind seats? Or flip flop the rad and tank positions.

Still at LS? Heard its been pushing 100*, hard to keep em cool in that kinda heat. Distilled water and some water wetter helped mine before I rearranged rear of car and put on turbo.

No back in Ohio and we go to Silver lake in Michigan. I use distilled water and water wetter also.

Do not remove the oil cooler. Move it yes, with its own fan. A little sheetmetal around the radiator to keep the air from doing laps around it would b helpful also. Putting the radiator in front of the tank will heat the fuel. Also bad.

hermie, were you at the dunes over the 4th? i remmeber seeing a yellow what sounded like busa buggy runnin down the drag strip. sounds good. but when i put my busa motor in my rzr i dont plan on deleting the cooler
