hey guys i would like your opinion??

Im getting over heating problems on my VTR1000 firestorm.

iv gone for a bigger oil cooler to see if it will fix the issue. ( will do new radiator if this doesn't fix the problem ).
so the cooler comes with a mounting adapter that fits over the existing oil filter
with two oil line outlets ( as shown on pics ).
Now my concern is....... i was thinking about plugging the original oil line outlets
and using the ones on the new adapter?? Can i get away with plugging the original holes?? or will i blow my motor if i don't use the original outlets?
Now my motor is bog stock and there is no hi-flow oil pumps pumping my system, and im not sure if the oil will circulate down through the adapter and pump back up
    and into the cooler?
sorry if the pics are crappy.

So what do you guys think??

I just installed same setup on my zx12. I put a small fan on oil cooler and I no longer running hot. Burping oil out of lines and cooler was tricky til I found a post about applying 20psi air to crankcase vent a few times, worked like a champ. Pressure went up, oil light off and ran llike a scalded cat!

What radiator are you running? Even on my little 600 the dual core civic radiator and 10" fan is barely adequate. I run it pretty hard though.

Once you get the system primed, the pressure will come up and should flow through the system w/o any issues. You might want to keep the radiator lower than the outlet just so it doesn't flow back into the engine when sitting.

    Im running a pretty big oil cooler a 9inch x 11.5inch x 2inch.
And the cooler outlet does sit about 3inch higher than the outlet so im a concerned
About it sitting higher like k-fab mentioned.
I'll post some pics shortly of the setup I'm trying to achieve.

    here is my setup,
as you can see on the pic from my oil filter to top of the oil cooler inlet it is 11inches higher so im worried it wont pump that high.
( the cooler is only a mock up ).

My oil cooler is higher than that, prob about level with head. Once primed, no more problems. But I suspect ea oil change will require a prime.

I got a few pics but I'll have to resize them. Bonus; motor will hold extra 3/4qt oil!!
