This is kind of a dumb question.
So I put a Governor lock on this 35HP Vanguard that Im Modding. I removed all the stock linkage to do the Carb swap.
Im playing with an automotive Tach to see if I can get a good reading but I don't have a Max variable RPM to work off of.
I know Stock with the Governor is 3600 RPM. So what can I do to the governor rod so I can get it to work temporarily to get a base variable reading on the Tach.
Heres a pic of the Governor lock I made.
Should I flip the governor lock and rotate the rod fully Counter clockwise and then add a spring to the Lock to keep it counter clockwise?

Just as a note, if you are planning on revving this much above 4k you really should completely remove the governor. They like to fly apart above that and it really messes up your engine if you are not lucky.

I would say best option is a rotational tach from harbor freight on the end of the crank or clutch, calibrate to that.

Thanks Mech, I slicked up an Equus tach that I'll be installing today. I'll post the outcome on my 35hp thread .
