Arctic Cat 660 Turbo drive clutch seizure problem

Two of the bushings in the drive clutch are very tight and cause the clutch to seize with very little run time on them. I have had this problem and the following what I did solve this problem when rebuilding clutch. My clutch has worked for 2 and 1/2 years with no problems. I ride on hard pack dusty ground and not sand, I do not know if this will solve problems for sand drivers.

The easy step:
Blow out the dirt and dust in the drive clutch with high-pressure air hose after a day of driving. If you do not do this it will cause a drive clutch seizure over time.

You can rebuild the clutch if it has a seizure, Arctic Cat sells the parts and tools. The Arctic Cat service manual shows how to rebuild the clutch.

When you have a clutch seizure here are the hard steps

Unbolt clutch end plate

Remove end plate and spring

The clutch end plate has a bushing in the middle that will need to be honed to get a slip fit later, this is one of the bushing causing clutch seizure.

Arctic Cat makes a clutch holding tool. So the clutch can be locked down in a vice.

Remove locking nut. Arctic Cat makes the tool for removal.

Remove the clutch spider . Arctic makes a tool for this , I welded a socket on mine so I could air impact it. Air impacting did not work. I put a 4 foot bar on the black handle on the tool, this worked better. I heated the spider with a torch.
Getting the spider off is the hardest part.

When spider is unthreaded from shaft, you can pull the spider out. To get the movable clutch half off the shaft off the shaft you may need to use a puller. The bushing in the movable clutch will most likely be seized.

In the picture the far right is the spider. The middle is the movable clutch half. The far left is the inter clutch half.

You need to hone the movable clutch half bushing until you get a slip fit on the shaft. The movable clutch needs to be able to fall down the shaft on its own when you let go of it.
