Well Ive had my 1000 gsxr buggy out for a test run about a week ago and noticed I really needed a chain tensioner. After making one I took it out for spin and I bent the bar it was attached to deflected the chain and broke the engine case from the chain bunching up and spinning through the engine sprocket breaking where the water pump attaches to and breaking the clutch pin. Now I have to fix all this before I can go any further. Does any one have an expoded view of a 2001 gsxr engine and tranny, as long were in the subject does any one have a spare case they would like to sell. I j b welded the crack but im not sure if it is going to work. It is the case that the water pump attaches and the oil pan attaches to. any help would be great. If I knew how to get pics on here i put some up of the carnage im sure some one will get a good laugh.

If you split and clean the cases, a good shop could weld the cracks. Your gonna pay a premium now that it's got that JB weld on there though. I have welded up a lot of dirt bike cases in the past because of chains breaking.

That is exactly what happened to me on my first sand trip a mere 150 feet from the trailer. Sounded great for 150 feet and then it was all bad. My cases were salvagable.

Chain tensioners are hell. That has been a topic of discussion here to no end. Much better to have a movable sprocket/rotor bearing carrier than a chain tensioner.

Sorry to read about your troubles. Get rid of the tensioner and do it another way - IMO.

Do you not think the j b weld will hold it is on a non structerial spot it slightly split the hole were the water pump goes in at

JB weld has it's place. on an engine ain't it IMO. If you are willing to bet your engines life on it, go ahead. Splitting the cases and having a reputable shop tig weld it would be the best long term repair. Other than a new case anyway.

I agree with boostinjdm. Tig it or replace it.

Go on Ron Ayers Motorsports - Motorcycle, ATV, Jet Ski and Generators Parts and Accessories and look for your year bike. They have exploded views of just about everything.

I beleive the 600 and 750 are interchangeable as far as frame installation so perhaps they are also the same internally. I don't think the 750 and 1000 are alike.
