ive searched chain tensioners and chain idlers and find no posts with pics. I HATE THAT. i am a picture orientated learner. i would love to see whats out there on your cars if the set up uses an idler or tensioner. i want to use my lower engine mounting plate for the tensioner plate with a slot for adjustability. i just need some pics to get some creative juices going. thanks

Simple is better. Basiclly a lever with a sprocket on the end. And generally a bolt to adjust it. Don't get into fancy spring loaded tensioners, they tend to fail.

That's what I have on the Rorty R82. I'd get a picture but it is in the trailer. Can get it in two weeks . . .

    Let's see what I got...

I believe this was a sprocket machined out to have bearings pressed in. I think I got these pics off this site Vin.

    Off this thread.

is that adjustable? Looks more like a guide wheel.

Shoot, I forget the site, but someone has them for the 520/530 chains with a bearing for like 10-15 bucks. Want to say grainger or something like that.

Yeah, that is fixed (that is my setup). I would make a bunch of other holes if you wanted it to be adjustable.

Here's a pict of how I did mine. I made the whole carrier adjustable, mainly b/c I didn't know if I'd have the room to make an independantly adjustable idler. I ended up making the right call.

The whole carrier is pivoted on a hardened 1" rod. I can adjust it up or down using the two threded rod links. I also have the idler in there (basically to get the chain up and over part of the frame). it's actually just a bushing I machined out of delrin for the time being until I get a sprocket in there, but it's fixed.

This isn't the ideal setup, the whole rear end was a redesign and I was kind of stuck with a lot already. But it works really well.

Hope this helps spark some ideas.

Gotted, That 2nd pic looks like you're using a Banshee carrier with a street bike motor???? or does it just look like a Banshee rear carrier?
