Have had a bit of PBO (project burn out) on the MR and other stuff on my mind. Got a wedding coming up in 2.5 weeks (Oct 23).
So my better half, Robyn, decides we need an arch for the ceremony. She also knows I'm capable of making one so I immediately say "No, not doing it."
She starts looking to rent and such. Ouch!
Guilt takes over...
This Nuptial Ring also doubles as a wedding crasher roll cage - it's truly off road worthy.
I've had a couple of sticks of 1.25x.065 chromoly tubing floating around in my possession for over 10 years. Guess it's time to use them.
525 Industries tooooobing prep tool, Miller gloves and a brand new bad ass welding helmet with a well set up TIG welder were used.(Thank you Kustomfab!!!) It's full race spec Nuptial Ring.
This was the plan:
Rolling a flat ring is a bitch - especially with a manually run Harbor Freight roller.
Keeping this thing aligned whilst turning the steering wheel on the table turned out to be tricky. Had to hold onto the toooobing with a pipe wrench and try to keep it spewing outta the roller as straightly as possible.
It took me a few passes to realize that it was a lot easier to roll and control when I only added one turn of bend instead of the two turns I started out with.
Didn't come out too badly. I tucked the ends of it up under the build table and bent it flat.
Oh - always take time for Tacos. Costco makes bad ass tacos...
The Nuptial Ring, ready for assembly.
Getting the two rings close to the same shape was a lesson. Tweak here, re-roll a section, pull the ends apart farther, repeat about a dozen times. The two hoops ended up laying on top of each other fairly well aligned. One side is a little more egg shaped but this isn't F1.
This was fun to hold with nobody else around...
Finished product:
Here's Robyn test locating on the back patio (where the ceremony happens):
So the photographer keeps talking about sunlight and direction and such - check this out, we'll have the perfect Saguaro shadow during the ceremony.
And here it is going thru it's dress rehearsal. It'll go back up in a couple weeks.
So yeah, been doing stuff, just not MR related - that's getting ready to change. Gonna start working on getting the dash in and the HVAC installed - have it all now.

Thanks Jimmy.
Worked and saved my ass off to build my Heaven and it’s been worth every moment.
We call it the R&R Resort. First six months we lived here I kept expecting my bags to be packed up and sitting by the door with a note “your stay is over.”
