I do disability support so from time to time things just don't go to plan.
Stumbled upon this and it made me understand I'm not feeling anything new.
William Blake
"To See a World..."(Fragments from "Auguries of Innocence"To see a World in a Grain of Sand And a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour. A Robin Redbreast in a Cage Puts all Heaven in a Rage. A dove house fill’d with doves and pigeons Shudders Hell thro’ all its regions. A Dog starv’d at his Master’s Gate Predicts the ruin of the State. A Horse misus’d upon the Road Calls to Heaven for Human blood. Each outcry of the hunted Hare A fiber from the Brain does tear. He who shall train the Horse to War Shall never pass the Polar Bar. The Beggar’s Dog and Widow’s Cat, Feed them and thou wilt grow fat. The Gnat that sings his Summer song Poison gets from Slander’s tongue. The poison of the Snake and Newt Is the sweat of Envy’s Foot. A truth that’s told with bad intent Beats all the Lies you can invent. It is right it should be so; Man was made for Joy and Woe; And when this we rightly know Thro’ the World we safely go. Every Night and every Morn Some to Misery are Born. Every Morn and every Night Some are Born to sweet delight. Some are Born to sweet delight, Some are Born to Endless Night.
Sorry for the block of text. Im old and sleepy and can't be buggered editing it all. Shameful in know. Such work deserves better. Still a joy to read and read again. Each part a journey of consideration.
Then again it might just be me. I am a duck after all.![]()

Trying to get a snowball rolling here.
Best way to to get this place moving is to post. Funny story's. Bad day at work. Shed builds. House builds. Some funny shit a pet/kid/wife etc did. Cooked a epic meal. Half pooped my self to death the next morning.
The place is a home away from home.
Give it some love.
Just a thought. All dressed up and waiting for the beer to arrive.

Some mindless chatter for the sake of traffic - I'm good with that! I need to write more. I go back and read all the shit I wrote in Yellow Dog Racing and am quite entertained.
Been thinking I should pick apart a few thousand posts in the Mini-Raptor's build and stick it into YDR. - my old web writing software went kapoot and I never really pursued getting back online.
Okay, so you want a story. Got one, kinda...
Went out last night in the RZR to get in a last bit of off roading for who knows how long and to take a look at my 7 weeks ago yard sale spot.
Arizona contains roughly 70% of the wildfires in the USA - 13 of 'em smoking the beautiful landscape out. Closest fire to us is 60-80 miles away (100 - 130 km for you guys that say aluminium) and smoke has filled the next valley over from us. Anyhow, Arizona is shutting down pretty much all of the forests in the state due to the extreme fire danger. We've been single digit humidity state wide and temps over 100 and upwards of 115 (38-46C) with winds so it's the perfect storm for fire stuff to happen. They're shutting down my riding area on Friday morning.
Off we went last night just at sunset. Perfect way to end the day. Killer dinner and then a desert tour at night. Temps were down and yesterday we had rain! (first since April and pretty much just sprinkles on/off thru the day - just enough to make shit wet and smell oh so sweet).
Got to the off road area (11.3 miles/18km from house), turned in, took off the windshield, hopped back in and got ready to head out.
Hit the light bar switch, on brightness.
Hit bumper lights, on fill in.
Hit mirror lights, on wide pattern.
Hit a small hole and poof, they all go off. Well shit. They've been flickering a very tiny amount for quite a while. Guessing what ever cut through the wire insulation finally made it all the way thru.
Discussion was had. We've had some bad luck recently (me eating shit, pickup truck leaving us stranded, cancelled trips) so Robyn and I sat there for a moment with her letting me know that she did NOT want to walk out.
We decided to move forward, just at a really leisurely pace. I didn't want to go that far anyhow. And yes, I checked fuses...
Off down the trails we went, checking out the scenery and looking for critters - night time is usually when we see the most wild life. Being that it was seven weeks to the day of having the ground come up and smack the living shit outta me I decided to go find the rock that hurt me.
Wasn't hard. I had a pretty good idea of where it was and drove right to it.
Click on the link below (because I suck as a forum owner and don't know how to make non-YouTube videos play) and you'll see where I went down.
https://www.yellowdogracing.com/video/IMG_3015.mov
Came into the corner hot - ran the outside rail and remember getting on the throttle as I exited. This is a corner you can just rip through and it gives you that full factory motocrosser feeling when you stick it.
Hit the whoops out of it and then things get fuzzy. I must have gotten cross rutted (I usually go to the right) or had something deflect me into the big sucker sitting there in the middle of everything.
My last clear memory is that I'm looking at the front wheel, can see the top of the right side of the rim down low (over rock) and thinking get it up over the rock! The looking down at the right side of the wheel is what has me thinking that I'd been deflected/cross rutted/bitten by the f'n whoops and the bike wasn't straight up and down like it should be, setting up for the right hander coming up.
My next (fuzzy) memory is of me picking up the bike in the right hand corner with the fluffy grassy bushes on the right. Bike ended up in that right hand bowl.
Where did I stop??? Hard to say. That's a long way between the rock and the bowl and I don't think I played Mr. Flippy Floppy for 60 feet. My injury is straight up over the bars, twist 90 to the left and land on hip to head. Don't think I bounced or rolled. There are no other signs of body trauma. Bike must have continued into the bowl and then went down.
I do remember it laying on the left side and being a bitch to pick up. It was 90 degrees to the corner so both wheels were high and I wasn't physically able to get it pulled down into the wash so Mr. Short Shit here couldn't get a leg up over the seat to ride it out.
That couple came along the first time and asked if I was okay. I wasn't but said I was? I dunno. They came back (5 or 50 minutes later) made some comment about me still being there (I'd taken off my helmet, gathered up the GoPro - no, it was off, dammit). The guy helped me get the bike down into the corner so I could mount up and said he'd follow me out.
I wasn't sure how far it was that I rode until last night - made note of the odometer in the RZR as we were out. Turns out I rode 4 miles (6.5km) to the exit and then another mile (1.6km) to the staging area.
Robyn just kinda looked at me as I was telling her "Oh, yeah, this rocky section of the trail SUCKED" (one of the easier, smoother ways out of the main wash. It's 90% deep sand but there's this rock filled section that sucks when you're healthy) and shook her head. I told her that adrenaline is pretty impressive when used properly.
To be honest, after looking it over last night and retracing my steps, I'm pretty surprised at how well I made it out - that head bonk either put me in the correct frame of mind for extraction or I'm just stupid and determined and VERY thankful I have an exceptionally high (for a guy) pain tolerance. Have had a couple of doctors tell me that I'm way at the top of the charts with a look of disbelief.
Seven weeks in doc says I'm pretty much healed up. Going through physical therapy to get strength back and they don't want me doing much movement with my left arm from straight out to above my head.
Ah, the stories that accompany the broken things. Gotta say, this is definitely one of the more adventurous.

You mad crazy bugger. It's amazing you could breath. How you didn't deflate a lung is amazing.
Loved the story even if it did make me shake my head in bewilderment.
Ps few to many bumps to the head can bring early onset dementia on so lay off the head from now on. Work the legs a bit maybe. All dressed up and waiting for the beer to arrive.

So my work story goes like this. I work with a fellow with a bad ABI so fine 99% of the time with help but if things get a bit stressful or don't go his way he can have an escalation. Monday is shopping day so he can get a bit excited and want every fatty, sugary, salty, gut rotting, heart nuking food ever made. His health and budget are not able to go the full all out plan he has in mind so compromises need to be made.
Anyway as said 99% of the time he is cool bananas but not Monday. Things went from all cool working out our budget and building a shopping list to coffee tables flying through the air and tv's sailing through windows. I was able to dodge all the flying objects and distance myself but sadly his house faired very poorly. No one was injured but when he returns to himself and realizes what he has done it is devastating to watch. Poor guy has taking out the better part of his most beloved objects and there is nothing he can do to change it.
The fact that he gave no warning beforehand and reach such a level of rage so quickly plays on your mind. As does the aftermath you need to work through with him afterwords. Hard for him and hard for me.All dressed up and waiting for the beer to arrive.

Interesting poem, I've never read that one before. That's rough Jimmy, although I'm glad you're around to help ease the situation. Makes a WORLD of difference when people that care are around.
So you guys all "WANT" to hear stuff like how the guys at work ran a Caterpillar 613 water tanker out of fuel despite 2 people saying it was filled and had fuel at the beginning of the day? and how I saved the day? =P Or how I was in a Meyers Manx that rolled on the freeway during rush hour? As it rolled, the seat tops rolled sideways over my ribcage crushing ribs 2, 3, and 4 and separating my sternum... Left my lying on my back on the freeway in lane number 3 staring at oncoming traffic. Still have a "bone-bump" where it healed "inhaled" (would pop out when I inhaled and filled my lungs and pop out when I exhaled until the joint set). From that time on, playing the accordion would be limited to an hour session or less due to it pressing on said "bone-bump".
Purchased an ATC 250R that was hopped up and would clock just over 70mph on gps, brought it home, and decided to ride it around the front yard... it had no brakes. Nice expansion-pipe burn on left leg, "laid it down" as much as you can lay a 3 wheeler down, but better than hitting the barbed wire fence, or so I thought at the time.
Lots and lots and lots of these types of stories for the kids someday... hopefully won't be adding to it anytime soon though. The things you do when you're young. Fun stuff. I'm just glad God kept me alive through all these things.
I can relate to the camera footage being unavailable Kfab... most of my wrecks the gopro was off too, haha. You realize you're (hopefully) alright, reach up... feel for the button and listen for the beep and darn it; camera is off. My brother was lucky enough to capture a VTR1000 Superhawk going down on ice and with both bike and rider sliding and spinning like it was a planned dance move.
Amen Jimmy, that's the spirit. So I may have missed it once upon a time, but what's the story with the duck? Very curious.
PS. Sold the YXZ1000R last week.

Till you a Kfab responded I was feeling like the thread was performing less than planned.
That omlet looks epic!
The duck thing is how I feel in life from time to time. I'm all dressed up and front and centre but im just not like the rest of the world. It's not a negative thing. I just understand I'm that person that everyone looks at with a confused look. Kfab was very kind to change my dohiky to "Duck in a tux". That's a sign of acceptance in my eyes. I normally stop talking at this point. Anyway. I feel very at home here so I let a bit of my normally guarded oddity out.All dressed up and waiting for the beer to arrive.

Eight billion of us crawling over this beautiful plant. There’s gonna be some variance. I’m very glad I’m not on the top of the bell curve that represents human kind. Definitely a bit farther towards the edge than the top. It’s more fun outside and towards the edges.
Normal… eh, boring.
I think the come camaraderie that’s found on this forum comes from vey like minds - we’re all just a bit off the top and sliding down the more adventurous side of the aforementioned bell curve.
Hey Duck, curious about the world’s news of the US - asked Gareth if the building that collapsed in the middle of the night a couple nights ago made the news in Australia. He said no. I would have thought something as random as half a 12 story condo just dropping to the ground at 1:30 a.m. would have made world news. (One survivor found right off the bat, a few bodies now being found.). Google Surfside Florida building collapse - looks like a demolition with how precisely the building dropped.
So, I have to ask, are you guys hearing about our border crisis and all the Mexicans and Central Americans flocking to the US?
I live in (Arizona) one of four border states (California, Arizona, New Mexico & Texas make up our border west to east) and the ability to walk across the border is pretty easy. (Until summer heat starts killing people by the dozens - they find bodies all the time) Once you get to Texas the Rio Grande River makes the border.
I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley, just 10 miles (16km) from Mexico, where there isn’t a wall (or minimal) and this year, after the change of president from a guy who had balls to a complete muppet, the influx is up an insane amount.
As a kid I remember watching the occasional river swim, now they’re just walking across and turning themselves in.
Anyhow, just wondering if the rest of the world hears of our refugee problems. It’s not just in the Middle Eastern part of the world where thousands flock to an imagined country of “we welcome you.”
This isn’t a political biased conversation, btw. (Although it’s one of our biggest political thorns right now).

I'm still thinking about that omlet....
I find the media machine very much not to my liking. I avoid it.
It's the 8 billion I worry about. If we were mice or rats or cockroaches. I wonder what we would be called based on our eco system balance and sustainability.
Sorry I've worked huge hours this week and it had not been a perfect week. I'm off to bed.
However this is the best dialog I've had in forever. Love it.
