I was watching a series on TV the other night about the outback and the commentator said something that has my curiosity up, he said a "scorching winter" I am assuming he is talking January time frame which would be winter her in the north, so do you use the same season vs month in Oz as we do here? I had always thought when it's summer here it is winter there and you would refer to it as such?

Talon’s presently complaining about winter weather. Oz is opposite our seasons.

Complaining that it's too cold or too hot?
I know the seasons are opposite, I just found it odd that on the show the narrator said sizzling winter.

Ohio has been either cold and damp or hot and muggy all year so far. Maybe a handful of nice days but I've been working on every single one of those days and the weekends are usually bad.

Not looking forward to going back right now, I've been in Mexico for work. Been warm and dry and nice nearly the whole time. Still have to go back to Ohio and finish school at least.

Not sure what a "scorching winter" means? Maybe just an unseasonally warm winter? Winter in the southern half of Australia (more so away from the coast) can be very cold.
