    Good morning guys,

A couple days ago I posted on Facebook about my wife wanting another 2 seat car. Well as a good husband, that day my "male selective hearing" heard that loud and clear and wondered where the hell my real wife was. lol. So I'm sure most of the O.G.'s here know Gene. Well he posted to my Facebook post and said he was looking to sell his Rorty R82 that Dune originally built. Gene messaged me to inform me that he has terminal cancer and that he will be in Hospice care this week. I was utterly shocked at the news.

He seems very at peace with everything actually and in pretty damn good spirits actually. Last night while messaging back and forth he sent me a picture of him and his nurses, and was looking forward to his morphine injection. His words were Mmmmm, Morphine. It sucks to loose a good person so soon. I have his daughters contact info to possibly pick up the R82. He also has the "another mini" car as well that will be sold. I will be helping them sell the car.

If you have any memories with Gene, post them below. I think his family would like to hear them from his Minibuggy family.

As a long time lurker back in 06-07 I read through SO many threads. There were a lot of Rorty builds going on. Gene bought Dune's R82 and realized it needed MOAR POWA. I saw an engine and picked it up from Gene, an 05 CBR 1000. At the time we were installing our RPM gearboxes, so I sent him a set of mounts like my car had. Heck since then, we have gone back and forth about all sorts of cool build ideas. His latest was a busa powered Diahatsu mini truck. Heck, I think we had it all designed in an hour through Facebook Messenger.

Well anyways, it sucks to loose good people so soon and cancer sucks!!

Always enjoyed Genes build threads and other posts. Seemed like a very likable guy from what I can tell from over the interwebs.

Gene relocated to Angola Africa for a while didn't he? I remember reading about his kayak trips in the Congo and then we didn't hear from him for a while.

Really sorry to hear about his condition. Thoughts and prayers to Gene and his family.

I never met or had a conversation with Gene, but it was amazing to me that he never had a cross word with anyone on the board. As one who has had my posts misunderstood and sparked someone to react negatively, Gene always seemed to be very clear and calm. Quite an amazing feat. My best to him and his family.

I remember when I first logged onto MiniBuggy Gene was one of the first to post onto my tread and like Ody said Gene was positive towards other members posts def not a grammar cop. I’ve read through his treads many times here and learned from them. He has been and will be missed here. Thoughts and prayers out too Gene and his family

Damn, I knew Gene fairly well, haven't talked to him since he was in Europe...

Let me know if I can help, I knew his other car, a modified SST. I think the transworks box was the only problem.

Ah that's too bad. I never met him in person, but I always enjoyed his posts back in the day when I first joined this board.

I too never personally got to know Gene, but his input here has been invaluable to my minibuggy experience. My condolences to him, his family and friends. Hope he can make the best of the days and family and know that he and his are in my thoughts and prayers.
