It seems like the site times you out very quickly if you are inactive, and it thinks you are inactive when you're typing up a nice long, well thought out reply. I've gotten in the habit of copying my long replies before I hit the post button.

    Yeah, been there, done that.

If you typically use the same computer, you can put a check in the "Remember Me" checkbox on the login screen. That will keep you logged in while you compose long messages. If you have "Remember Me" enabled and you are still timing out, then you may have cookies disabled in your web browser.

Another solution is to type your long responses in notepad, then copy/paste your reply. This is handy if you need to browse or research other posts as you compose. It also saves you from an inadvertent browse away from your posting that deletes all your hard work.

Yeah, the 10 minute limit bothers me too. No idea why it exists and no idea how to change it.

    I'll check into it though . . .

So are you guys not using the "Remember me" check box next to the login box?

I keep that checked and can use the site for months without getting logged out ever or having any issues.

Also, after losing a few long messages, I've been trying to get into the habit of selecting all the text and copying it (Ctrl + C) before clicking anything so that if something does happen I can paste it into the message again or a text document somewhere to save for later.

I'm with minibajaman, I haven't had to log in in months and I use 3 different computers, not even sure what my password is.
