Ok other than the paint what do you guys think of this car. I would want to put an ectotec in it. Anyway, i talked to the guy he says it is in mint condition. He wants 11k without motor or 12500$ with motor. What do you guys think?

K fab is gonna speak up on this on. He drove that car on the dirt wheels photo shoot. He will likly have some very good things to say about it.
I like things that move. Pretty much limits me to cars and strippers.

Ok patiently waiting. I have heard that the 800 polaris are underpowered and extremely loud. If the frame is different than the newer chassis im sure it can be modified to fit a ecotec. Not bashing just my opinion the early Tazcars had some pretty funky paint schemes.

I think it will need modification to fit. If K-fab doesn't respond tomorrow call Atv Racing.

I'm home now... Was gone playing in the woods on my bike for the weekend. Husabergs are AMAZING machines in the woods!!!

That car is Tom Rowe's old car. I believe it was chassis number 6.

The 800 twin SUCKS. I can't put it any more plainly. The engine is a total pig. It vibrates, produces no power, is obnoxiously loud and SUCKS.

The rest of the car is good. It's an original design (ATV has upgraded the chassis completely since then), so for 11K, you're getting a good car. Don't bother wasting any money on the engine.

I don't know if there's enough room for an Ecotec. The original chassis is quite different from the newer design and I'm pretty sure that the engine bay's about 6" shorter than the new Eco powered frames.

Personally, in that car, I'd look at putting an RX1 or an Apex engine in it, not the Eco. The Yamaha sled engines work beautifully in the Tazcars too. You can make them fairly quiet also.

The car is light weight (compared to the newer Tazcars) and the Apex will make the thing rip.

If you decide to go w/the Apex (hint, hint), contact Jay Largo (not John - make sure you talk to Jay) at Desert Dog Off Road in Fountain Hills, AZ. He's done a couple of Apex/RX1 installs into the older Tazcars.

What else can I answer for you?

What year began the new chassis design? I would really prefer a eco.

Check with custom's. If it has a vin. or title. It will take 3 days to clear custom's for import. It is some times a pain to get things across the border, But it can be done. The good thing is that it was made in the U.S. That will make it easier.

Not sure what year Neil and James designed the new chassis. Maybe 05?

polais 800.....140 hp (8000 rpm) +- depending on year.
    Yamaha Apex......150 hp (11000 rpm)
This would suggest higher torque #'s from the poo
Strange you found it to be underpowered?
