I was thinking of buying a Joyner sand viper 650. But for the price I could buy 2 or more of these off brand buggy. I basically will use it on open land in the central NY area. What are the thoughts of the readers

The price would have to be real good for me to buy a joyner 650. I do run a heavy modded joyner and I love it. But the 650 is probly the worst design out of all them. The older ones are known for popping axles. If you just want to cruise and torque and being quick aint important, then they are great. I love the look of the 250, 800, 1000, and 1100 but the 650 not so much. But if t will fit your needs, price is right, they do good for a decent trail rider

    I ended up buying a 2006 Joyner.

Is there any mods that I should consider doing?

Joyners are great rides especially the 650's I personally know several who own them. What size did you get?

The 650 aint bad. None of the Joyners are speed demons but they are fun out the box. I aint sure if it's all or just a few years, but some 650 had axle issues. Had a buddy pop 4 or so in a year. Very aggresive riding but alot of them all the same. So if that might be an issue, I would invest in some gorillas or something.

Good for you, a good idea will be to change the oil, both trani. and engine, change the plugs, adj. the valves, check compression(just for self knowledge)change air filter if need. Looks like you have loads of space to ride. good luck with the new ride.
