Time to get my build fix on.

So my son is 17,, gonna be 18 later this year. taught him to run the mill , lathe,, work in my shop the past couple of years.
he is taking welding in school , done with mig and currently wrapping up tig

I have never built a complete buggy with him though,,,,,,, my bad as a Dad,,, always working

so we are going to build a couple of FXT buggies,,, one for him and one for me that we are going to keep.
after all,,,,, I don't want my race track turning into a grass track
so I can also get my racing fix taken care of too

these builds may take longer as we are doing them in or spare time, after work and after he gets out of school and work and homework.
but these builds are not about how quick we get them done, but more about teaching / learning
well,,,, his will take longer. I have a little free time right now and busting out a roll cage this week

the pics are all gone from the original FXT thread so I am going to add a couple of finished FXT pics to start
then I'll add some current build pics as we go

    Thanks Bull !

yes, I loved the black & blue one too, one of my favorites

picking colors is going to be tough on these, I've already done all my favorite color combos over the years.
doesn't mean I can't repeat,, cool is still cool

Ya , I hear ya Jimmy,
shame to loose such a wealth of pictorial information MBN has built up over the years

maybe some day I will find the time to go back thru my build threads and re load pics , but we all know how that goes LOL

so my son comes home today and tells me he got first in the state high school welding competition ( in Michigan)
they gave him a bunch of gifts, welding gloves, ,,,,etc
super Proud Dad here and ready to build these chassis's with the state champ lol

Nothing wrong with a bit of young bull old bull rivalry.

Give the young fella a chance to see that grey hair is earned and wisdom is gleaned through the passage of time and countless cockups best never repeated.
All dressed up and waiting for the beer to arrive.

    Thanks Jerm
Track is fun, 4 different corners , some sweeping some tight. .2 miles long and 30 plus ft wide.
perfect for this size race buggy and power plant

    more messy tool build pics

Front shock mounts, A arm tabs / plate

handing pedals, MC mount, steering rack mount plate

Swing arm mounts, jack shaft , bearing blocks mount plate, engine mount plate

    steering tube, dash bar

rear supports, fuel cell mount plate

need to add nerf bars and add some welds (just tacked right now) then pull it from the build table / jig plate
then finish building it in the rotisserie so we can start the next one on the build table
