For that much $ I would think maybe buying or building one would pay for itself . I have 1-1/2" and 1-1/4" tube dies on mine , if you switch to 1-1/2" tube I could help you but I am south of Fresno

There are a couple of off road fab shops up there, but none of them will have pipe dies.

Maybe the high price because its pipe not tube?

    Does anyone actually bend pipe?

Oh yeah, a wise wizard once said, "pipe is for plumbing, tube is for a chassis!"....or something like that! LOL.

Or, buy the Harbor Freight kinker and do the strap mod to keep it from kinking the pipe. Not sure the radius will work out for you but it's a pretty cheap option.

Yep I have used and bent quite a bit of pipe, hand railings and such. My first buggy many moons ago I used galvanized pipe and had a muffler shop bend it for me

i would not mind switiching to tube. i need a 1.66 od or damn close to it so i dont have to modify to much. was attempting to keep this build as per the book as possible. fresno is not bad at all i am down there often enough would you mind taking a look at a page of the plans i can email it to you see what you think about it.
