Alright. In an attempt to give everyone ample time to plan and prepare for this trip, we're starting the planning stages early. Although last year's trip was fantastic, we didn't have a huge MBN turnout which we'd like to change this upcoming year. The trip will probably be around President's Day in February 2017. We are THINKING Calico Ghost Town which is located just past Barstow in Yermo Southern California. While last year's trip to North Glamis Hot Springs (the Salton Sea) was nice, the riding was only so so although the blooming flowers in the dunes was probably one of my top 5 desert experiences. It was mostly about the accommodations (pools, restaurants, full hookups, wifi, etc) for the wives and kids and the fact that it was thrown together and rolled into another trip I had planned.

IF YOUR VEHICLE ISN'T FINISHED, don't let that stop you from coming. Between all the 4 seat RZRs (yes I'm a quasi golf cart driving RZR dork now) and my group of Baja Bug and truck friends, we will have extra seats. I will also have an extra 400ex quad someone can use. I'm sure we will be bringing bikes as well. Food will be the usual pot luck style with lots of smoked and barbecued dead animals. THERE WILL NOT BE a gluten free soy based vegan menu so leave your man buns and skinny jeans at home. This will be a family trip so bring the women and kids. There is some pretty cool stuff to see and do at Calico. There is a restored ghost town, a train for the kids, full hook ups, wifi, etc. The riding is very cool with a bit of everything thrown in. I will be bringing my projector setup for movies, sporting events, and, as always, Supercross.

As always, we will need a headcount fairly early on to make reservations. Here is a link for info about Calico:

Are the trails wide enough for full size buggies (94") ?

Robyn's probably going to join me this year. She'll cover that category of food and I'll be over at Lance's place STUFFING myself on Chile Verde. Lance and family are required to show up too.

I'm calling out RGVKid - come, come to Calico!

Let's see - if deaner's thinking of coming this way, there needs to be a parade of guys from that region. Jody, Bob (bullnerd) Ross, Odyknuck to name a couple. You guys need to snag others along the I-40 corridor too.

Oh Talon, are you, Wendy and Smith available again?

Fabdoc - you and Lens-lee need to join in.

And we can't have a gathering w/o Ratt and crew too.

Campsites/area plenty big enough? 38' goose-neck and truck.

About 80% sure we'll be there.

Just quit my stable job to pursue something more satisfying, I'll be starting over on time off,was hoping to make it.

I'll see what I can do.

Was just down in socal for ssss and we drove through Barstow. Was a tad warm this time of year.

Here's a link to the place: Calico Ghost Town

Calico Ghost Town offers 265 camping sites with accommodations for RV’s with full and partial hook-ups as well as group tent camping sites. The campgrounds offer hot showers, restrooms, grills and fire rings and two dump stations. Campsites are available near OHV areas of the park. There ya go - I believe you'll have more than enough room.

Has anyone found a map of the campground? I'm thinking it'd be cool to get a group area if they have one. I as some of you know need a big spot and I saw some 80' spots in the list but no map as to where or what's around them?

Edit: I did some more looking and found this but no group location is defined. Sure looks like the "F" section would work for us though.

Ah man, riding AND ghosts towns! Sounds like my kind of trip. I'd love to make it out, but it's a good 3 day drive for me...
