6 SPLINE 1-3/8 PTO SHAFT AS JACKSHAFT??

Well, if Jimmy says, it will work . . .

If, those splined shafts are hardened, which seems to be the case, then a 1 3/8 splined shaft should do the trick.

What about sprockets or sprocket hubs?

1" 3/8" is a 51mm!! solid steel shaft. It should be heat treated and case hardened. It's not going to shear. Ever.

The Edge Products out of AUS used them for drive shafts on their carts for awhile but switched to CV’s when the high HP engines they were using started to blow apart the female part of the PTO slide shaft…….if used as a Jack shaft without the “slide” you should be fine……Tractor Supply and other Farm Stores carry all sorts of hubs and other parts for spline shafts.

I was wondering what EDGE used on there spools shafts etc etc. What do you mean by the slide?

I was wondering what EDGE used on there spools shafts etc etc. What do you mean by the slide?

The “slide” is the female part of the tractor PTO shaft that they were using for rear axles on their cars which allowed for suspension movement…….it was the “weak” link in the whole system……the plans had you milling steel plate rings that were welded on the outside of the shaft to help keep it from exploding…..
