Fourth gear and a throttle stop? LOL I just hate to see someone take out an engine because it has “too much power” Just doesn’t seem right..lol

haha it's already gone and yeah I completely get it...the idea is right there at the edge of incomprehensible lol. In the end it wasn't that it was too powerful, it just wasn't a good suit for this buggy in the configuration I wanted it. My VFR/GK13 probably had a higher power/weight ratio. It was way too sensitive...any throttle at all had it bouncing off redline. I even moved the cable perch around on the peddle to try and tone that down and couldn't get it reasonable. And it was too loud...not the motor so much as the jackshaft assembly. There was 8ft of chain spinning any time it was in gear that made more noise than the motor. It wasn't a bad motor, just not a great application.

The Predator engine has some decent torque and if you're mostly looking to drive around on trails, etc, then give it a try. You can get the most bang-for-the buck by removing the governor and upgrading the carburetor to the flat-slide Mikuni. If you feel like you need more kick, then go with the camshaft upgrade.

I'm running the Comet Duster CVT clutch setup. The driven clutch will fit on a 1-inch keyed shaft.

haha of course the only driven pulley out there with a 1" bore is $200! Thanks for the lead!

I'm hoping at the end of the run it'll have the bigger cam and valve springs and dual throttles, but who knows...if it pulls the buggy around I may not be inclined to change much. I had all the power in the world and didn't like the noise of 12ft of chain flying around and hated the twitchy throttle, I'd hate to end up back in about the same place.
