My AR-51 car had a 750 and it weighed 1100 with me in it. Keep the wheel and tire combo as lite as possible. I could cruise around the dunes just fine. As mentioned above, the power really came on between 9 and 13k. My engine was an 03 model.

Looking at dyno’s and considering it’ll be gearing through two transmissions i’m confident that the gsxr lump can push the buggy, but it is a bit peakier than i’d wanted. I’m passing on the one i was considering, for now. I have a good lead on a TL1000S engine that’ll be a better fit in the space and have the torque I’m looking for.

What about an XB12R engine? Someone's offering that up...haven't hammered out a price yet but I've always thought a Harley powered buggy would be neat. Why don't you see them in buggies?

I was thinking just a couple of fans over the jugs....but i’ve dismissed that idea due the “wtf” factor involved in the cost of Harley parts. I don’t even think i would have been able to come to terms with the seller over a reasonable price for an XB12R that had been wrecked “in half”, as it were.
back on the prowl for a tl1000 or b12 or similar lump.
