Iím Looking at running a 5-speed manual transmission from an early 90ís G10 Geo Metro with a large metric cruiser engine...BUT to get everything lined up Iím going to be running the transmission backward (turned 180* and input rotation is reversed).
    Would that cause a problem?

I have no specific info on that particular transmission, but some gears are cut to an angle. If they're cut at an angle, it might try to disengage when torque is applied.

With helical gears, reversing rotation direction will reverse the direction of the thrust loads. Check the bearing arrangements and decide if they can handle that scenario. Answer is probably yes, but look anyways.
