    Homemade FNR
Got a gearbox with the diff was looking at it today and came up with the idea to make an FNR
The diff drive gear is a 4 to 1 reduction gear if I strip out every thing other than 4th gear (1 to 1 ratio) and reverse modifiy the housing to make it alot smaller and there ya go
4:1 reduction FNR box with a diff

Was wondering if this has been done before and does anyone have any links to this on the net

    Cheers Reece

Right details for those interested box and diff are from a toyota corrola front wheel drive, toyota mate them up to the 4age motor so 135hp standard and alot of boyracers push them into the 200hp range so should be good for running a busa

Thanks for the link bull, funny its another kiwi that has done it
    here is the diff

    here are the main shafts

My daft idea was to take 4th gear, grind the shafts so I can move 4th gear to where 3rd is leave reverse in place mount a bearing on the shafts where 4th gear was
Modify the shifter rings to work as a pair that way one shift is forward or reverse
I'd use bulk of the housing as is, diff section plus the bellhousing end wall just trim the bell off, the other end I'd fab up something and machine some bearing mounts
A fair bit of work but I should end up with a cheap unit that is small-ish and good enough to do the job and the CV's are nice en long and as common as muck
Oh and I'd set it up for a chain drive, this leaves a weak link that is easy to replace

So what ya think daft enough it might work?
