I'm running the Empi f150 cv/stub and timkin intrepid bearing. On my 3rd bearing, all drivers side. It loose and wheel wobbles. Anyone esle have this issue. Replaced before last trip to OK, 4 days and loose again?
Thoughts???

The bearings are held together by a rolled section where the stub bolts on.
I found in the press I could use a 45deg flare die to tighten them up.
Than and go 300ft lbs on the stub thread , got to be tight.

Huh, my napa ones never say that... lol. If your cup doesn't contact the back of the bearing housing it's gonna loosen. The bh relies on the stub to keep the bearings from wiggling apart.
The 100 ft lb limit is to keep you from running the bearing too tight but if the wheel is loose your certainly not crushing it. Might want a small washer between to get good contact or machine the stubs.

F150 wheel bearing or intrepid? I think you need a spacer with the intrepid.

Intrepid. I'm using the 3/8" spacer on outside against the big nut. But after gettin her apart, 1/8-3/16" on inside would snug it up.

Ive ruined more bearings by overtightening them than I have actually worn out. The bearings are ground so the mating faces set the bearing preload. 120 ft lbs is a pretty typical torque, and is enough to hold the preload on the bearings, without distorting the spacer. Too much preload causes the bearing to run hot and/or scar early, leading to premature failure. If you run the rough numbers from torque to tension, the stress on the bearing at 300ft lbs is insane. If you notice the bearing growling after ~1000miles, it was too tight.
If your spacing it right, the stub and nut will hold the two halves together. No need to over do it. Ive had a nut come loose on a buggy, which made the bearing feel loose, but tightening it up pulled the halves together, and restored the original tolerances.Proud owner of a two seat pucker-mobile.
