    Motorcycle engine drive shaft spline???
    #1
    Default
Hi I got a quick question for all the gurus on here. I am building a buggy and I am going to have to run a chain drive forward from the motor, so I need to make some sort of a adaptor that I can attach to the drive shaft to allow it to step out past the case of the motor. My question is are motorcycle shaft splines all the same, and if are they metric splined or is there just a given standard. Hopefully someone will know something.

They all be different. You plan on an home made adaptor on a sprocket or a Dwarf car driveshaft adaptor?

You might get lucky but most tractor splines are bigger and thicker VS bikes having more finer ones.

They're all different. Find some shop that can Broach and have them make what you need.
    Good Luck!

Speed Partz, Dwarf Car Drive Shaft Adapter

Is this what you are looking for?????? Hope it helps

Dwar cars run the engine sideways and the shaft bolts to this.... But you could maks a sprocket bolt to this running the motor in the normal position.... The face on the top of pic is about 2.5 inchs..... and height in pic is about 1.5 inches.....

Not all splines are the same size and all splines on motors are a little different..... But.... the bolt patterns are all the same.
I hope this helps.... Merry christmas....
