well gene i have to say i never really thought about the torque wrench issue however when i had everything mocked up with the cv shaft bolted in i cant recall thinking not being able to get a torque wrench in there. here is a diff pic all mounted. let me know what you think.

now that we are talking about it what do you guys torque your cv bolts to???? and PLK i am not done mounting the unit yet i was going to add 1 bar going up but now that you mention it maybe 2 will suite it better. never thought about gusseting. can you maybe post a pic of your rear drive. to show the gussets. i read so many posts without pics. us newbies L O V E pictures

I use the torque wrench on the nut, not the bolt (for the sprocket). I could be wrong about your setup but with my rear carrier the torque wrench head/body interfered with the carrier tube and the socket would not fit over the nut.

I do torque the bolt into the CV at 55 lbs. I think you still need to torque the nut on the sprocket side.

How much droop are you able to get with the carrier mounted. How much lower can the axle swing as mounted above?

hey mean gene here is another pic from the rear. the carrier is as low as i can get it without the cv housing rubbing on the frame rail. right now everything clears and am am at the limits of the type 2 cvs. but i dont have nuts on the back of the drive flanges the cv bolts go through the joint the sprocket then directly into the drive flange. so i dont see any reason i cant tighten everything from the outside. as far as droop maybe by the pic you can help me. im not shooting for long travel just mid

    Okay.

I see the sprocket is between the CV and flange. Mine was mounted slightly differently.

I still have my carrier after cutting it out of the car and will use it again on another project. What I will do different is to mount the sprocket on a larger diameter flange to allow using a torque wrench.

So maybe it will be all good for you and maybe it will not. Let us know either way.
